Alien Syndrome

Comments: This is a fun game. The controls are little awkward but not bad. I have very fond memories of this game. When I played it for the first time I thought it was great! and for some reason I thought the graphics were soooo good, but now when I look back, there were MANY games with better graphics!!! This game has one MAJOR downside, You can find new and better weapons in the level, and when you get to a boss you still have that weapon, but if you die, you LOSE it!!! so then you have to fight the boss with that little short range gun!!! So basically if you die once at a boss, it's game over!!! Because beating a boss with that little gun is damn near impossible!!!

Comments: A fun game, though a little hard to control at first. It's really fun for you and a friend to use two pads and have one as pilot as gunner! So Player 1 (the pilot) can concentrate on not being hit, and Player 2 (the gunner) doesn't worry about getting hit and just shoots everything! Because with only one pad you can either shoot, or move, you can't do both at once and using two pads at once requires very good coorination!

Comments: This a fun game. It's cool how when you win,you can train your team and build them the way you want! so you can have them specialize in speed or passing or shooting whatever! However it is damn near impossible tosteal the ball! it takes a lot of practice to steal the ball without knocking the guy down and getting a foul!

Comments: This is a fun game, but the true fun is playing two player! However if you play two player there is next to no challenge and you can beat the game without even trying! I hate those little jeeps that keep shooting you repeatedly, you'd think the tanks would pose more threat than a jeep, but no the jeep is worse! I have one question, sometimes this guys runs out with dynamite and levels a building. Is he doing that to help you, or is that supposed to hinder you by stealing points you would have earned by leveling it yourself?

Comments: This was a fun game but contratry to the box, it is hardly an RPG!!! But it;s still really fun, I like game like this were you take standard platform jump and shoot action, but mix in a detailed story and a little bit of brainwork. I wish there were more games like this!!!

Comments: Sega tried to pull off two much with this game. They wanted all the depth of a true Flight Simulator, (which is very cool) but in order to do that they traded off Sound, Graphics, and Speed!!! So you end up with a VERY realistic (especially for 8-bit!) filght simulator with next to no sound, bad graphics, and speed of a "Powerwheels Big Rig"!!! This game could have been much better if they had put it on a cart so it could be 2 or 4 megs, not on a 32K card!!!!!

Psycho Fox

From: Brian Pumphrey
Comments: If sega made Psycho Fox before Decappattack (for the Genesis), Psycho fox is definitely where they got a lot of ideas! As for the game itself, it is fun except one MAJOR drawback, When you start to walk, you move so slow, and you can't get any distance out of your jumps, but after walking for about 2 seconds, you are cruising like Sonic, and bumping into all the enemys! it's take a while to get used to how you move! If not for that this game could have been WAY better!

Alex Kidd: the Lost Stars

From: Brian Pumphrey
Comments: This was a coolgame, no where near as good as the other Alex Kidd titles, but fun none the less. It was kinda like Alex took a hit of acid, and he was on some kinda trip. Saving the Zodiac symbols from clams, and birthday presents! And the enemy were whacked out too! Flying bear head playing music at you, and the music notes kill you! The dog barking, and actually spelling out "woof"! Kinda like the centipede from Alice In Wonderland and the naked babys shitting skulls at you! It was all just like a big acid trip! Which I think is what draws me to it! I like things that are strange and dont make sense! Like Cloud Master! Plus it start ALex Kidd! And like Fantasy Zone the maze, I can'y help but think that if this didn't star Alex Kidd, I wouldn't like it as much!

Altered Beast

2001-03-23
From: Brian Pumphrey
Comments: Altered Beast is a classic, but I think it should have stayed inn the Arcades and on the Sega Genesis, unless..... Sega SHould have tryed to realize that good graphics make not great game! If they could have made the character smaller, and limited the number of enemy on screen, there may not have been so much choppyness. That is the main drawback, too choppy! Second drawback, if you get hit once and there is an enemy in front, and in back of you, you will die! No matter how much health you have, they will juggle you back and forth untill you die! A few seconds of invincibility after being hit would have been helpful! The third draw back, No level 3! No Werebear! He was the coolest! However I must say, what with the choppyness and all, I would hate trying to make the jumps you have to make in level 3! Plus the 3 headed wolves are damn hard to hit, and if they hit you, you lose a lot of health! and you miss your spirit ball usually! Now, this isn't a totally bad game, the music is spot on with the arcade version, and the graphic look pretty damn good for 8-bit (but trust me, you pay for it in the long run!) and despite all it's drawbacks, its still a fun game I play fairly often, Though I get very frustrated and pissed off when I Have full health, and I lose it all from being tossed back and forth by zombies! This game has it upsides, and it has its downsides, And it could have been SOOOO much better. But there is just something that keeps bringing me back to playing this game over and over so it can't be all bad! If I could give it a 6.5 I would, but I can't, so I guess i'll have to round up to 7.

From: Brian Pumphrey
Comments: This a pretty good game, though I must say, If it didn't star Opa-Opa and didn't have the Fantasy Zone theme, i would play it once and say what a stupid Pac-Man Clone! SO maybe I just think it's good because I love Fantasy Zone! Either way, I definitely think it the weakest of the Fantasy Zone Trilogy! I wonder why Sega Abandoned most of the Sega Master System stars when the made the Genesis and Sega CD and Saturn and stuff? The only guy who seemed to survive was Shinobi! Alex Kid, Opa-Opa, Shion (wonderboy), and a few others were just abandoned it seems... what a shame!

Comments: Hey Sega Man, I'll give you one clue. To Get the Burnt Map piece. First go see the Burnt Piece, but DON'T touch it, then call Rockwell (123-4321) and meet him in his room 30 minutes after calling him, DON'T be late! He will give you a "Restorer Spray". Then go and get the burnt piece, you will spray it automatically, and you will recieve it!

Comments: I loved this game! It combined my two favorites Alex Kidd and Shinobi! However one downside is that it is WAY too easy! Something the other Alex Kidd games were NOT!
I have one curiousoty about this game... It is stated that it wasn't released in North America, only in Europe with a BLUE label. But I bought Mine In North America with a RED label. Maybe because I live in Canada???

Comments: This was one of the first games I got with my system. I remember the TV Ads making it lok like the greatest game since Alex Kidd, but when I played it, It just wasn't fun. Enemy jets just keep flying into your sites, and you shoot them! The missles were a neat idea with the lock on beep and all, but I found them useless! A fun game if you like jets and stufff, but Thunderblade and Space Harrier will always be the two best shooters!

Comments: Now this was a cool game! This took Alex to a whole new style of play. Myslef I like these adventure style games. I like games like Day of the Tentacle, Sam'n'Max, and King's Quest, but there weere never any games like that for the console systems, Untill HiTech World! (I know the games listed are newer than AK:HTW but i needed examples!) There are only two downsides: The Ninja Forests were unreasonably hard! (hell, I was only 8!) and once you beat it, theres no real reason to come back. Like all adventure games once you know all the tricks and puzzles, theres nothing more to do! I wish I could blank my mind and play this game all over from scratch again!

PS I find that Nintendo bashing is kinda childish, yet I must say, I will never know how Super Mario Bros. became soooo big with Alex Kidd around at the same time! I mean this game is soooo much better!

PS I think Nintendo bashing is kinda childish, but I must say this beats Nintendo version hands down! However the Nintendo did have that option to play MK/SF2 style, but that hardly makes up for it!

Comments: This was cool gun game, the only one that allowed two players I think. That was a neat idea, two players at once! I used to just use two guns for twice the firepower! Of course I couldn't really aim... but hell, I felt like someone in a John Woo movie for a few minutes! Then I wondered how those guys always live in the movies because aim with two guns at once ain't easy!

Another cool thing about this game is I learned a coll cheat for it by accident. Me and my friend Colin were ighting for the controller and some how the Inistial QW were put in then we realized that with the initials QW and all 0's you got a shit-load of money! I swar on my grave that's how we found out that trick!

Comments: The version I have of this is the buit-in ROM version. I think thats a terrible pack in! Hang-On is only fun if you like racing! Which I don't! However Safari-Hunt wasn't bad. I don't know how many of you out there know it but you can beat Safari Hunt! I can't remember how many levels there are, but when you do beat it its says (on that awful green/yellow screen) Congratulations, Maybe now you are ready for a real hunt with a real gun!
PS I think Nintendo Bashing is childish, but I must say that Safari Hunt has Duck Hunt beaten by a good country mile! I dont think I have to expalin why!
